Wambui and Tony know each other since childhood. Our fathers were coworkers at Del Monte in Kenya while we were kids. Tony and his family moved to USA in 2003. Wambui moved to Germany in 2006. Thank God for Facebook, we both stayed (somehow) in touch by liking each other’s Facebook posts.
Wambui: In 2016, I came to US for a 2-week conference for my MBA and was visiting my father in Indiana. I’m sure you all have experienced that joy of knowing someone in a new country. I asked my dad for Tony’s number. I called him and we had a small chit chat. He was still the fun and caring guy that I knew from childhood. From there we would check in on each other every once in a while, just like friends do.
Tony: In 2019, I felt compelled to let this beauty know what I actually feel for her. I figured it was going to be a walk in the park as we knew each already. So, in one of our conversations, I indirectly mentioned that I was interested in her. It was not the walk in the park I had envisioned. More at the wedding on how things went down. Fast forward, November 2023, I posted a picture on my WhatsApp status. It was a picture of me with my brother and a cousin who had been to the same high school with Wambui. Wambui liked the picture. Let’s say, the rest is history and patience paid off. Here we are planning a wedding.
It has been a beautiful journey so far and we are grateful to God for his grace. We thank our families and friends for the tremendous support and love. June 7th 2025 will be an awesome day. We cannot wait to confess our love for each other infront of you and God.
See you there!
